The 14th ICIF Kicks off Grand Opening

MAY 10 witnessed the grand opening of the 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), China’s top cultural fair, which is estimated to attract 21,000 buyers from 101 countries and regions, at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

The first two days are mainly for professional visitors and the remaining three days are for visitors from the general public, the fair organizer said at a press conference Wednesday.

At the main venue, which covers an area of 105,000 square meters, a total of 2,308 delegations from governments, enterprises and institutions participate in the fair, cultural exchanges and trade, showcasing tremendous achievements and outstanding contributions in the cultural industry, trendy designs, animations, publishing, digital culture, arts and crafts and intangible culture heritages in nine halls.

Hall 1, the largest exhibition area, features key cultural enterprises and industrial parks organized by governments from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China. Hall 5, Digital Culture Hall, manifests China’s amazing achievements in the convergence of the development of culture and the digital creation industry. The exhibits cover VR, AR holographic imaging, digital facilities and software.

This year’s fair has attracted 130 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions, including the U.K., France, Spain, Romania, Latvia, Serbia, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. The exhibition areas for overseas exhibitors account for 20 percent of the total exhibition area. Hall 7, the only hall for international exhibitors covers 7,500 square meters. Countries and regions under the Belt and Road Initiative display their traditional arts and crafts, creative designs, intangible cultural heritages and cultural tourism resources to visitors along with presentations of their superb performing arts.

The display of arts and crafts has always been a highlight of ICIF. In Hall 6, an exhibition of well-known Chinese contemporary painters in Shaanxi is being held to mark the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up that helps China re-emerge as a significant actor in international relations. Seven renowned art galleries and institutes from Russia, the U.S., France, Ukraine and Israel display their exhibits in Hall 6.

The organizer will host over 60 culture-themed seminars and promotions at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, which is the main venue, and other venues.

Besides the main venue, a string of cultural exhibitions, business promotions and matching-making events will be held at 67 sub-venues across the city of Shenzhen.
